Full Description
Blackham, Arthur, 1997, The Red Fingerposts of Dorset, Somerset, Cornwall and Hampshire. An investigation (Unpublished document). SDO20827.
‘BERE REGIS, DORSET NGR SY884971 on the A31 between Wimborne and Bere Regis. Made of cast-iron, all in red but with white lettering. A finial gives the map reference and the words RED POST. It was described as ‘Guide Post’ on the 1st edition of O.S. 1:2500 County Series Dorset, 1888. It was first described as ‘Red Post’ on the 2nd edition Dorset XXXIII.15, 1902. The A31 Bere Regis post is by a boundary stone and a parish boundary.’
