Monument record MDO48173 - Ditch, 31 Dorchester Road, Stratton
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A ditch running roughly north-south was recorded by Bill Putnam in 2006, which undertaking observations and recording during groundworks for a new house. The character of the ditch suggested that it accompanied a field bank and hedge, though no trace of these was seen. The boundary was not depicted on the tithe map or the 1901 Ordnance Survey map, and Dr Putnam felt that it was probably Saxon or medieval in date.
