Find Spot record MDO4815 - Anglo-Saxon coins, Stourpaine

Two silver sceats found near Lazerton or Ash Farm by a metal detector user. The precise find spot is not known. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water.

ST 86291057. An Anglo-Saxon silver sceat minted in Durham (AD 575-650) was found at a depth of 3 cms. on Ash Farm. <1>

Sceat previously published as being found at ST 8629 1057 should have been sited at ST 8663 1030. <4

‘The sceat published in PDNHAS 101 (1979), 138, fig. 61.2 from Hanford, with the grid reference (ST 86291057) is incorrectly placed. It should be ST 86631030 in Stourpaine parish and was found with the sceat recorded in PDNHAS 101 (1979)’
