‘Oborne is in the N. of the county, near Sherborne. CHARTER. B.1308 records the grant by king Edgar to St. Mary’s, Sherborne of 7 hides at Woburnam or Womburnam, “crooked or winding bourne”, in A.D. 974 or 975. No survey is attached to the extant document.’
