Historic documents show that Willelme le Crokker or Willelmo Crokkere lived at Halstock in the fourteenth century, suggesting the pottery may have been manufactured here at that time.

'15 Halstock. Mills (1971, 41) mentions a resident of the parish by the name of Willelme le Crokker. This is proably the same individual known as Willelmo Crokkere in the 1327 Lay Subsidy Roll (Rumble 1980, 62).'
