Full Description

A Dornier lost on Chesil Beach by Oil Tanks, 13/7/40 (1)
13-7-40. A German plane flew low along Chesil Beach in the direction of the oil tanks chased by fighters and fired at by A.A. guns. It released one bomb which fell near the gun position then struck the beach and fell into the water. An engine from the plane was recovered from the water by means of ropes; this bore a plate which would appear to identify the plane as a ‘Dornier’ (2)
