Full Description

'Tinmouth, Nov. 27. The JANE, Capt. Prowse, of and for this place, arrived off our bar on Tuesday last, and might with ease have come into harbour, but on Wednesday night a strong gale of wind forced her to sea, and she was stranded off Lime, and nine persons drowned; but the mate, carpenter and one boy were saved. Among the drowned were the master, Mr Squarry the owner, who went off to help bring her in, and five boys; the passengers, to the number of 17, were all safe landed before the disaster.' (1)
