Summary

Site of a heavy anti-aircraft artillery battery on the the south-west edge of Poole Harbour. It formed part of a group of 5 similar batteries designed to protect the Royal Naval Cordite Factory (situated to the north-west) at Holton Heath in World War II.

Site of a heavy anti-aircraft artillery battery on the the south-west edge of Poole Harbour. It formed part of a group of 5 similar batteries designed to protect the Royal Naval Cordite Factory (situated to the north-west) at Holton Heath in World War II. Air photos taken in 1947 show six circular settings arranged around a circular central area within an area of open moorland. Little now survives as a recogniseable feature, and the site has not been recommended for scheduling. <2>
