Full Description
Three early roads ('A'-'B' & 'C' on plan), now mainly untracable, in the area of Charborough Park were abandoned after the construction of the Puddletown & Wimborne Turnpike Trust opened in 1841-42. The boundaries of Charborough Park were then extended to the line of the turnpike and an extensive brick wall and several lodges (see SY 99 NW 47,48,49) were built. The portion of road 'B' (on plan) between World's End (SY 90829765) and the present East Almer Lodge (SY 91899819) was abandoned circa 1844 (See SY 99 NW 47 for inscription) but had originally served as part of the Wareham Turnpike Trust (Wareham to Spetisbury) of 1765-66.
