At least 15 Lower Palaeolithic handaxe and a flake have been found in the Dewlish area.

Full Description

Pa. hand axe found at Dewlish neatly chipped, but slightly unsymmetrical, one side being straight and the other curved. Found by a Mr Brown of Salisbury (Figured: Acheulian type). (1)

No further information was obtained during field investigation upon this hand axe. (2)

Fifteen Palaeolithic handaxes have been found in the neighbourhood of Dewlish (SY 7798). Some are preserved in Dorchester County Museum, Salisbury Museum and Taunton Museum. (3)
