Summary

Hollow way, up to 9m wide, 0.3m deep, originating from a possible chalk pit, and cuts through the north ditch of the Badbury to Dorchester Roman road. It then runs in a NE direction for some 80m before being ploughed out.

Full Description

A shallow hollow way was recorded by RCHME field survey in April 1993. Measuring up to 9m in width and 0.3m deep, it appears to originate from the N corner of a possible chalk pit (ST 90 SE 31), cutting through the N ditch of the Roman road from Badbury to Dorchester. It then runs in a NE direction for some 80m before being truncated by lynchetting from subsequent ploughing. A full survey report is available in NMR Archives. (1)
