Summary

A barrow described as being at the east end of Bincombe Down was opened by antiquarian Edward Cunnington, who found a primary cremation burial and secondary urned cremation burial.

Full Description

Listed under Bincombe. Barrow at east end of Bincombe Down and west of Came Wood (perhaps in Winterbourne Came parish) opened by E Cunnington : primary simple cremation; secondary cremation in thick plain urn. (1)

No further information was obtained to enable the excavation report in Authy 1 to be attached to any sited barrow. (2)

Bincombe 10a. Bowl barrow on heathland at east end of Bincombe Down and west of Came Wood, partly removed for sand, was opened by Cunnington. Details as Authy 1. (3)
