Full Description
A barrow at Muckleford (SY 6393) opened by Mr Sabine in 1832 revealed a massive triangular-shaped stone placed centrally near the top of the mound. Six feet below this were human bones together with a three-rivetted spearhead and a 'double-headed pin'. <1>
Grinsell refers to the spearhead as a bronze knife-dagger and the pin as possibly belonging to Late Bronze Age Central European types. (The excavation may refer to one of the barrows at SY 69 SW 41 or 57). <2>
