Monument record MDO47710 - Bowl barrow west of Druce Higher Barn, Puddletown

B' - SY 73989768. A ditchless grass covered bowl barrow. Diameter 18.0 metres. Minimum height 0.5 metres, spread. Many flints are exposed on and near the barrow but no further afield. <1>

The barrow discovered by Authy 4. ('B' - SY 73989768) is shown but not described on Celtic Fields (Group 45) map. <2>

'B' - SY 73989768. Bowl barrow, ploughed almost flat. Diameter approximately 16.0 metres, height 0.2 metres. No visible ditch. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <3>

‘Four barrows (48-51) lie in the N. of the parish, scattered along a N.-S. ridge above 300 ft. O.D., among the much ploughed remains of ‘Celtic’ fields (Group (45)). An air photograph (Cam. Univ. Colln. AGT 18) suggests the possibility of two more barrows, one immediately S.S.E. of (50), the other 115 yds. to the N.N.E. (74139703). … (51) Bowl (74239745), 580 yds. N.N.E. of (50), on the W. side of the ridge, is much ploughed. Diam. 57 ft., ht. 1½ ft.’
