Full Description

An iron sword apparently medieval and possibly of the Civil War period found some years ago by a labourer at Eggardun and given to Mr Daubeney of Bridport. Presented to the Dorset Co. Museum by Mr. Westmacott of Askerwell. <1>

I know nothing of this find, but Mr. Westmacott lived at North Eggardun Farm about 1925, later to move to Askerswell. He died some years ago. <2.1>

No further information was obtained during field investigation, or recording, when Col. Drew of the D.C.M. could not be contacted to confirm that the sword is still in the possession of the Museum. <2>
