Full Description

Two urns ("repaired" by Mr Cunnington), one containing bones, were exhibited by Cunnington and presented to Dorset Museum by W Cree in 1894-5. They were from a barrow near Owermoigne on Cree's property. <1>

My late father and Mr Cunnington, of Dorchester, opened two barrows here (Owermoigne - SY 7685) - one on the downs and one on the heath. These both contained urns of clay, filled with ashes. They are now in the Dorset Museum. <2>

A barrow on Owermoigne Heath was excavated by Mr Cree and Mr Cunnington and produced urns filled with ashes. The urns, one barrel
and one bucket type are in the Dorset County Museum. <1-4>

No information was obtained during field investigation that would identify this barrow, but it may occur among the barrows on Owermoigne Heath. <5>

Owermoigne 11a and 11b. Two barrows listed, unlocated (details as above). The urns, one barrel, one bucket, both knobbed, are in Dorset County Museum. <6>
