Monument record MDO47500 - Medieval chapel of St Rumwold, south of Durngate Street, Dorchester

The Chapel of St Rumwold, documented in 1405, is thought from documentary evidence to have been situated somewhere south of Durngate Street and east of South Street.

The Chapel of St Rumwold, (or St Rowold), documented in 1405, has been sited from documentary evidence to te 5th plot on the east side of South Street below Durngate Street. Post-Roman features found during excavations in advance of development i 1955-6 could relate to the chapel, or to a boundary wall around it. <1-3>
