Summary

Historic documents indicate that there was a park at Knighton by 1348. The park is thought to have occupied a bend in the river Stour, but its exact location and extent are not known.

Full Description

A deer park was in existence by 1348, but it appears to have been disparked and reverted to pasture land by 1462. The exact extent of Knighton Park is not known, but it probably occupied an area of about 100 acres within a loop of the River Stour. (area centred SZ 050974). There are no surviving earthworks. <1-2>
