Summary

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey the site was found to have been destroyed. The site was opened during September 1959 and closed in September 1991. The post was located underground on St. Catherine's Hill in a clearing immediately west of the rifle range. There is a small square disused concrete reservoir nearby.

Full Description

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey the site was found to have been destroyed. <1-3>

The site was opened during September 1959 and closed in September 1991. The post was located underground on St. Catherine's Hill in a clearing immediately west of the rifle range. There is a small square disused concrete reservoir nearby. <4>
