Full Description

A bronze brooch recently found at Maiden Newton, was exhibited in the Dorset County Museum in March 1934. The brooch was a foreign type which came into fashion not long before the Roman conquest to the close of 1st century AD. <1>

Found at "The Ridges", Maiden Newton. Acc No.1934.7.1. <2>

No further information concerning this find was obtained during field investigation. No house or field named "The Ridges" could be traced in Maiden Newton. The name may possibly have been given to the strip lynchets at SY 60309770 erroneously. <3>
