Summary

The site of a First World War airship moorings for non-rigid airships at Upton. It was in use from mid 1918 until the end of the war. It was an out-station of RNAS Polegate and possibly RNAS Mullion and a SS type airship was moored there in the grounds of Upton House.

179/195 : (30) SY 990930 : Dorsetshire. Airship Moorings for airship at Upton between 1918 and 1919. It was a sub-station of Polegate. Note this source states that it was a sub-station of Polegate whereas source 2 states that it was a sub-station of RNAS Mullion. <1>
