Summary

A Late Bronze Age socketed axe was found at Tarrant Rushton before World War Two, somewhere in the area subsequently covered by Tarrant Rushton aerodrome. It is now in Salisbury Museum (accession number 95/1969).

Full Description

(ST 9405) A Late Bronze Age socketed axe, of the plain Irish "bag shaped" type, was found at Tarrant Rushton before World War II. The axe, 6.7cms. Long, was previously in the collection of the late W. E. Wright, but is now in Salisbury Museum (95/1969).

According to Mr. Wright the axe "was found somewhere in the area which is now covered by the areodrome at Tarrant Rushton". <1-4>
