A concentration of post medieval extractive pits within High Wood, Lytchett Matravers, are visible as sub circular and sub oval earthworks on current lidar imagery (Environment Agency 2021). The features are considered likely to be old chalk pits and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
