Full Description

Compilers note - two Scheduled monuments, bowl barrows, lie 400m to the south of this location. (List entry numbers 1016283, 1016282). The given location lies just outside the Registered Park and Garden (II*) of Charborough Park (List entry 1000713). (1)

Two Middle Bronze Age urns from a barrow at Sturminster Marshall are in the Henry Durden Collection at the British Museum. (Catalogue 18-20 Nos. 20 and 42) (2)

The barrow was not located during field investigation and no further information was obtained. (3)

Two collared early-middle Bronze Age urns from an unlocated barrow at Sturminster Marshall, found in 1843. (4 & 4a)

Brief descriptions of the urns, one of which was found in 1843, the other in 1846. The barrow was situated in a field near the pond in Charborough Park (SY 916985). (5)
