'A late Bronze Age socketed axehead from Bradpole. This bronze axehead, at present on loan to the museum through the kindness of Mr. Clive Greening, son of the farmer, was found at a depth of about 2 ft. in the field on the north side of Newhouse Farm, Mangerton Lane, at about SY 484947, while enlarging or clearing what appears to have been a stone drain carrying off water presumably from a spring below the 100 ft. contour.

The axehead, 3 and a quarter ins. long and 1 and 3 quarters ins. across the sub-rectangular mouth, has a cutting edge expanded to 2 ins. The single loop springs from a single moulding at the mouth, from which hang three vertical ribs on both faces.

Thanks are due to Mr. H. S. L. Dewar for information about the circumstances of discovery.'
