Full Description
A small seaplane base was commissioned at Sandbanks, Dorset in 1940. The site consisted of a slipway and concrete apron where a single hangar was constructed. Other facilities included a workshop and fuel tanks. By 1943 the need for seaplane pilots has declined and the 765 Squadron, which had occupied the site, were disbanded on the 25th October 1943. Sandbanks was paid off. <1>
