Full Description

Roman urns found in the cemetery. <2>

Twice, of recent years, ROMAN or RB pottery has been found whilst digging graves in the cemetery. On the last occasion the find was made due east of the centre of the east window of the ancient chapel of ST. MARGARET & ST. ANTHONY. Col. Drew is of the opinion that this jar is of a domestic type. <2-3>

[Centre of cemetery : SU 0051 0048] <4>

[Area centred SU 0051 0048] According to the caretaker of the cemetery, no pottery has been found during recent years. He had no knowledge of the pottery mentioned in T.2. 'Due east of the window of the chapel of St. Margaret and St. Antony' [See DORSET 34 NE 12] would put the more recent find as having been made in the southern part of the cemetery. <5>
