Summary

A World War Two auxiliary unit operational base located at Winterborne Came near Dorchester. The structure was constructed in 1940 and is of corrugated iron and brick. It comprises two main chambers buried underground and connected to each other via a tunnel which has now collapsed. The chambers are in good overall condition but partly filled with debris dumped by local landowner. Each is about 15 feet long by 8 feet wide. The interconnecting tunnel is also built of corrugated iron sheeting. A field visit in 1995 found the structure to be in a good condition.

Full Description

An auxiliary 'hide' constructed of corrugated iron and brick, consisting of two main chambers buried underground and connected to each other via a tunnel which has now collapsed. The chambers are in good overall condition but partly filled with debris dumped by local landowner. Each is approx. 15ft long by 8ft wide. Interconnecting tunnel is also built of corrugated iron sheeting.
