Full Description
A small sub-circular hollow to the northeast of Peaton's Farm, Lytchett Matravers, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The feature comprises a 6m in diameter hollow situated within an area of earthworks associated with a deserted medieval village (MDO7774), around 25m west of a surviving medieval house platform. The feature
might, however, be a later feature, possibly a post medieval extractive pit, a chalk pit perhaps. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The feature is no longer visible on available Google Earth imagery.
