Full Description
Banked curvilinear features to the southwest of West Park Farm, Lytchett Matravers, are visible as soilmarks on 1940s aerial photographs and as cropmarks on Google Earth imagery [1, 2]. Some of the features are respected by irregular areas of ridged and ditched cultivation marks, possibly medieval ridge and furrow (MDO46936). The features also appear to respect a medieval drove way (MDO7833) that runs from west to east along the southern edge. The features are considered likely to be field boundaries and possibly trackways that form part of a field system of possible medieval to post medieval origin, although a prehistoric date for the field boundaries is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
