Monument record MDO46911 - Roman building, Forum Centre, Trinity Street, Dorchester

Please read our .

Summary

Observations and recording by Wessex Archaeology in 1994 revealed a series of stone walls and and chalk and mortar floors to the west and north-west of an area where Roman walls and mosaic floors had previously been recorded. Traces of stone walls with purple-painted wall plaster and a tesselated floor were also recorded. These are thought probably all to be part of a substantial late Roman town house. A terrace immediately to the south was thought also to be Roman.
