Summary

A bowl barrow. In 1970 this monument was reported as being around 35 feet in diameter with a mound about 4 feet high. The feature is visible as a banked and ditched earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.

Full Description

Two round barrows lie W. of Bonsley Common, close to the parish boundary with Turnworth.

(B) Bowl (81950889), diam. 35 ft.,ht. 4 ft. <2>

A round barrow, one of two, is visible as a banked and ditched earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery (RAF 1947; EA 2018). The feature comprises a 9.8m in diameter mound and a 2-3.2m wide outer ditch. It was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
