Full Description
Banked linear boundaries to the south of Newton Peveril, Sturminster Marshall, are visible as soilmarks and earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The features are considered likely to be field boundaries that form part of a rectilinear field system on a SE-NW alignment. The field system appears to be cut by a historic road recorded on the OS 1st Edition map, indicating a potentially later prehistoric to possibly medieval date. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The field system might continue to the southeast (recorded under MDO46785).
