Summary

Areas of narrow ridged and ditched cultivation marks within fields to the west of Almer, Sturminster Marshall, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are considered likely to be of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible, and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.

Full Description

Areas of narrow ridged and ditched cultivation marks within fields to the west of Almer, Sturminster Marshall, are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features correspond with historic field boundaries recorded on the OS 1st Edition map and are considered likely to be of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project. The features are no longer visible on available Google Earth imagery.
