Full Description
A post medieval quarry to the northwest of Almer, Sturminster Marshall, is visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The feature is recorded as a quarry on the OS 1st Edition map and is shown but not named on an OS map dated 1955 [3, 4]. The extent shown on lidar imagery indicates possible expansion/ additional extraction to the southeast. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
