Full Description
A concentration of probable post medieval extractive pits at Newton Peveril, Sturminster Marshall, are visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery (Environment Agency 2021). The features are most likely chalk or gravel pits - several are recorded as ponds on a 1955 OS map. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
