A post medieval extractive pit to the south of West Wood, is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs (RAF) and on current Environment Agency lidar imagery (2021). The feature is recorded as an old chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
