Full Description
Several post medieval extractive pits within Little Charborough Pit, Sturminster Marshall and extending into the top edge of Lytchett Matravers parish, are visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The largest of the features, up to 140m wide by up to 95m deep, is recorded as 'chalk pits' on the OS 1st Edition map [2]. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
