Find Spot record MDO4658 - Medieval floor tile found near 6-8 Parsons Pool, Shaftesbury

A fragment of medieval inlaid floor tile was found behind the Methodist Chapel on Parsons Pool, Shaftesbury, in the demolition debris of a boundary wall between 6 and 8 Parson's Pool.

During the demolition of a boundary wall between Number 6 and 8 Parsons Pool, ST 8628 2308, a fragment of inlaid Medieval floor tile was found. It is decorated with Emden design 85, a design not previously recorded for Shaftesbury. <1-2>

MEDIEVAL FLOOR-TILE FROM SHAFTESBURY
Mrs J Rutter has submitted a fragment of inlaid medieval floor-tile for identification. It ws found behind the Methodist Chapel (ST 86282309), in the demolition debris of the boundary wall between 6 and 8 Parsons Pool. The tile is decorated with Emden design 85 (A B Emden, Medieval Decorated Tiles in Dorset [1977]), a design not previously recorded for Shaftesbury.
