C E Bean observed the widening of Bimport close to the site of St John's Church during 1949. He recorded medieval pits on the north-east side of the road.

(ST 85802272) Medieval pits found in road-widening NE side of road. <1>
Mr. Teulon Porter who was contacted during field investigation was able to add that the pits were found in 1949, but knew no
more than that. The site is covered by the now widened road. <2>
