Summary

Nine hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery in fields to the west of Sitterton Farm, Bere Regis. They range from 18m to 64m across and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. They are considered likely to be the sites of post medieval chalk pits, the group has since been separated by the Bere Regis By-pass.

Full Description

Nine hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery in fields to the west of Sitterton Farm, Bere Regis <1-2>. They range from 18m to 64m across and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. They are considered likely to be the sites of post medieval chalk pits, the group has since been separated by the Bere Regis By-pass.
