A pit shown on the 1st epoch 1:25 inch scale Ordnance Survey map, on which it is described as 'Clay Pit'. A site visit in 1974 noted the remains of a horse-driven pug mill in the pit.

There are remains of a horse-driven pug mill in a clay pit, which lies to the south of the kiln. <2>
