Summary

Two large hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the west of St Mary's Church, Winterborne Whitechurch. They are 20-97m across and have since been levelled, the are now being under St Mary's Close. The features are considered likely to be post medieval chalk pits and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

Full Description

Two large hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the west of St Mary's Church, Winterborne Whitechurch <1>. They are 20-97m across and have since been levelled, the are now being under St Mary's Close. The features are considered likely to be post medieval chalk pits and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.
