They are 23-25m across and considered likely to be post medieval chalk pits. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project.

Two hollows are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery in fields to the south and southwest of Dolway Cottage, Winterborne Whitechurch <1>.
