Summary

A Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was opened in March 1959 and the post closed in October 1968. The site was found to be in a fair condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. The site was located underground in a small rectangular compound on the south side of a public footpath, 100 yards north of Abbotsbury Hill.

Full Description

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as a part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The site was found to be in a fair condition at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. <1-3>

It was opened in March 1959 and the post closed in October 1968. The site was located underground in a small rectangular compound on the south side of a public footpath , 100 yards north of Abbotsbury Hill. <4>
