‘Restored Purbeck marble quarry situated to the north west of Acton. The site, which includes two small quarr houses with stone roofs, a capstan between two crab-stones, iron rails leading to an inclined shaft, was sunk early this century by the Norman family and was worked until World War II. The site provides an excellent interpretive example of a typical quarr.’
