Full Description

Linear banked and ditched features at High Ditch Copse, Corfe Mullen, are visible as earthworks on current Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features comprise a curvilinear bank and flanking ditch that extends from the southeastern corner of High Ditch Copse to its west side. The ditch appears to continue west through the adjacent historic field. No sign of a bank continuing but it may have been ploughed out. A shorter linear ditch extending north from the main ditch within High Ditch Copse is also visible. The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries or trackways of possible medieval to post medieval date - although an earlier origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
