Full Description

A deposit of shale armlet cores was found in 1845 in draining a withy bed at Rompstone, presumably that adjoining the main road at SY 995820. With the cores was a shale object, "like the bowl of a large glass of rummer"; probably the conical piece of shale waste from lathe turning, which is in Dorset County Museum (1908 28 1) and was formerly supposed to come from Norden. <1>
