Summary

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was opened in May 1963 and the post closed in September 1991. The site was found to have been destroyed at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. The site was located underground in the middle of a field on Towns End Farm on Woodbury Hill.

Full Description

The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as a part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. The site was found to have been destroyed at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. <1-3>

It was opened in May 1963 and the post closed in September 1991. The site was located underground in the middle of a field on Towns End Farm on Woodbury Hill. <4>
