Full Description
The site of a Second World War military camp is visible as extant structures on RAF aerial photographs taken in 1947 within the grounds of The Down House, Blandford St Mary <1>. It comprises a group of 36 buildings under what is now woodland to the east of the house - many of which are still visible as extant features on lidar imagery <2>. To the south and south west of the buildings are several contemporary enclosures possibly formed by fencing or barbed wire - these have since been removed. The function of this miltary site is not known, it was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.
